Course Description:

This introductory lab course in cardiovascular rehabilitation provides the practitioner with simple-to-learn and easy-to-use manual techniques for improving total body circulation. The concepts and techniques learned in this course will lead to improved range of motion and joint mobility, as well as improved cardiovascular status and overall quality of life. Extensive lab time will be focused on clinical skills training. During this course, the therapist will learn how to apply the ‘Combined Vessels Approach’, a novel method to affect the tension of all major blood vessels in the body. This seminar is different from DCR’s course Cardiac Rehabilitation, which focuses on cardiac tissue. Cardiovascular Rehabilitation addresses peripheral vascular resistance, both arterial and venous. Peripheral vascular resistance is secondary to tension in arteries and veins, including smooth muscle spasm and impingement syndromes. The Integrative Manual Therapy learned in this course may be used to affect general circulation, claudication pain in the chest, trunk, arms and legs, as well as skin color and other signs and symptoms.

Course Outline:

  1. Introduction to Combined Vessels Approach for cardiovascular system
  2. Anatomy of cardiovascular system
  3. Muscle spasm, angina pain and chest pain
  4. Techniques for shifting pressures
  5. Cardiovascular Scan: The Arterial and Venous Kinetic Chains
  6. IMT to address major vessels in:
    1. Chest, including: aorta, inferior vena cava, superior vena cava, and pulmonary vessels
    2. Abdomen
    3. Pelvic cavity

Description of Advanced Integration Course Series:
Because of a shift in our healthcare economy, many of our students have shared with us that they find it more and more difficult to delve deep with IMT because they are limited in time with their clients. More and more of our students and colleagues are working with insurance and/or persons that are limited in funds. Because of this feedback, we have created the Advanced Integration Course Series, providing our advanced students with learning on how to delve deeper into the advanced IMT coursework in less time. These classes provide the IMT practitioner with critical thinking and integration related to the material in the class. Each Advanced Integration Course will include material from several specifically listed advanced IMT courses that cover a similar topic. During the course, the instructor will provide the student with a deeper understanding of the material and how to use the techniques from the different classes in concert, particularly in situations where we are limited in time.

Course Description:
During this course, Teaching Faculty will present advanced IMT and Integrative Diagnostics relating to the gastrointestinal tract and digestive system. Lecture-style presentation will include a review of IMT from the courses listed below as well as an integration of how to use the material in combination to delve deeper with greater understanding.

The Advanced Integration: GI Focus will integrate the following advanced IMT coursework:

    • Visceral Mobilization of the GI Tract & Visceral Fascial Release (MFRA1)
    • Liver
    • Pancreas IMT
    • Small Intestines
    • Cecum & Gluten Sensitivity
    • Sigmoid & Irritable Bowel Syndrome
    • Some advanced Integrative Diagnostics for the Digestive System

Time: Whenever you choose!
Location: Conveniently watch wherever you can log on!
Instructor: Kris Albrecht, MS, PT, IMT,C
Contact Hours: 10.5
Pre-requisites: Having taken some advanced IMT coursework in the past.

Course Description: According to Dr. Sharon Giammatteo, the optimal intra-articular space between sacrum and ilium is approximately one cm. While this space is increasing, deep-set Osseous Bridges and Bone Bars will often surface between the two articular surfaces. The protocol for Coccyx Phenomenon will address the issues which are keeping the joint space from optimal width. The coccyx must be totally disengaged from the pelvic floor in order to attain optimal joint space between the ilium and sacrum. In this course, students will learn many IMT techniques for assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor as well as restrictions through the spinal column and spinal cord, including vascular tissue. In addition, in this course students will learn multiple motilities and IMT techniques to address bone health and integrity. As part of this course, the Calcium Insufficiency series will offer the student Templates and Blueprint to support systemic calcium absorption as well as bone, vascular, and other body system recovery.
